Bridge to Cloud for IT & Tech: Start Building Tomorrow’s Innovation

Technology companies are known for helping others embrace innovation.

Yet many IT service providers, software developers, technology distributors, managed service providers, and electronics organizations are still running critical business systems on legacy on-premises ERP environments. Microsoft’s new Bridge to Cloud 3 (BTC3) promotion offers a compelling path forward for organizations that want to modernize without disrupting operations.

Eligible customers can receive a 30% discount on qualifying Dynamics 365 cloud subscriptions for a three-year term while continuing to maintain and operate their existing environment during the transition.

There is a certain irony in the technology sector.

Many organizations spend their days helping clients adopt modern infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, and AI solutions while internally relying on ERP systems that were designed for a very different era.

Legacy Dynamics GP, NAV, SL, AX, and other on-premises systems have often served organizations faithfully for years. However, as technology companies continue scaling operations, managing recurring revenue models, supporting hybrid workforces, and integrating emerging technologies, the limitations of on-premises systems become increasingly difficult to ignore.

Modern technology businesses need real-time visibility, anywhere access, seamless integrations, automated workflows, and a platform that evolves alongside the business. Maintaining servers, planning upgrades, and managing infrastructure can consume valuable resources that could otherwise be invested in innovation and customer success.

The question isn’t whether the cloud is the future.

For most technology organizations, it’s whether continuing to delay the move is costing more than the migration itself.

One important detail the technology industry should understand is timing.

The Bridge to Cloud 3 enrollment period runs from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027. New promotional subscriptions must be established during that window, although additional users can be added to existing BTC3 subscriptions afterward. Because migration planning, discovery, data assessment, and implementation preparation can take time,

Organizations that begin evaluating their options early will be in the strongest position to maximize available benefits.

Unlike a traditional ERP migration that requires choosing between your old system and your new one, Bridge to Cloud 3 is designed to reduce risk and provide breathing room.

Under Microsoft’s promotion, eligible Dynamics on-premises customers can migrate to qualifying Dynamics 365 online solutions through a three-year New Commerce Experience (NCE) subscription and receive a 30% discount throughout the promotional term.

More importantly, participating organizations can continue using and upgrading their existing on-premises environment through Microsoft’s Dual Access Rights benefit while they complete their migration journey. This allows teams to move strategically rather than rushing a high-risk cutover.

For technology companies that operate complex environments, support multiple business units, or have heavily customized ERP systems, having the flexibility to run both environments during the transition can be invaluable.

1. Your Business Moves Faster Than Your Infrastructure

The technology sector changes rapidly. New services, recurring revenue models, acquisitions, product offerings, and customer expectations emerge constantly. Cloud-based business applications provide continuous innovation without requiring major upgrade projects every few years. Instead of planning for infrastructure refreshes, organizations can focus on improving business processes and customer experiences.

2. Integration Has Become a Competitive Advantage

Modern technology organizations depend on interconnected systems. CRM, project management platforms, customer support tools, finance applications, AI services, and reporting solutions all need to work together. Dynamics 365’s cloud ecosystem is built for integration, helping reduce silos and enabling better visibility across the organization.

3. Security and Compliance Expectations Continue to Grow

Whether you’re managing customer data, intellectual property, or regulated information, security requirements continue to evolve. Cloud platforms benefit from ongoing security investments, updates, and…

Enhancements that can be difficult and costly for organizations to replicate in isolated on-premises environments.

Bridge to Cloud 3 supports many of the Dynamics environments commonly found within technology organizations.

Customers running Dynamics GP, NAV, Business Central on-premises, AX, SL, RMS/POS, and several other Dynamics ERP platforms may qualify to migrate to solutions including Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Project Operations, Human Resources, and related applications.

This flexibility allows organizations to align their cloud destination with current business needs rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

Technology organizations understand technical debt better than almost anyone.

Legacy infrastructure may continue functioning, but eventually the effort required to maintain it outweighs the value it provides. Bridge to Cloud 3 offers a practical path forward: reduced licensing costs, migration flexibility, ongoing access to existing systems, and the opportunity to modernize on your terms rather than under pressure.

The same innovation mindset you bring to your customers should apply to your own business systems.
